Lobaki has announced a significant advancement in diesel training. They recently completed five new virtual reality (VR) training experiences as of April 2025. This bold move dramatically expands its diesel technology training platform. These immersive modules focus on electrical diagnostics and safety procedures. They address the urgent training needs identified by diesel service managers.
A Strategic Leap in Training
“This isn't just virtual reality; it's a strategic leap in how we prepare diesel technicians for today's shop,” stated Mark DeHart. He is the Senior Technical Training Strategist – Diesel Systems at Lobaki. “Modern trucks are networks of sensors, circuits, and computer-controlled systems. Our VR experiences simulate these complex systems. They teach a diagnostic process and empower learners to tackle intricate issues with confidence.”
The expansion builds on Lobaki's success in creating immersive training environments. These environments make complex systems accessible while minimizing safety risks and lowering equipment costs. Originally designed for K-12 education, this approach has proven particularly effective for technical training.
The Power of Virtual Reality
“We've understood the power of VR since our early days, but its applications for technical training are especially compelling," said Zack Davenport, Director of Production at Lobaki. “With our VECS electrical simulator and turbojet engine training tools, we've showcased how VR can replace equipment costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. The new diesel modules continue this tradition, making complex systems more approachable than ever."
Newly Completed VR Experiences
Lobaki's five newly created VR experiences include:
Intro to Electricity
This foundational module teaches the essential properties of electricity. Learners explore animated presentations and engage in hands-on activities focused on Ohm’s Law.
Tool Identification
An interactive workshop where new technicians become acquainted with common tools. It includes guided practice scenarios to enhance familiarity.
Hazard Hunt - Diesel Workshop
A safety inspection simulator presenting 17 randomized workshop hazards. This module helps develop critical observation skills.
Vehicle Lifting and Jack Stand Placement
This high-stakes training focuses on safety procedures. It helps learners practice techniques without equipment risk.
Safety and PPE for Diesel Technicians
A thorough guide covering personal protective equipment and safety protocols for common workshop tasks.
Upcoming Modules and Bundles
Lobaki plans to release its Pre-Trip Inspection module in May 2025. Additional electrical diagnostic modules will follow in Summer 2025. The complete Diesel Training Bundle will feature all components and systems, scheduled for full release later this year. This extensive collection involved modeling every component of a diesel truck. It creates a solid foundation for simulating all truck systems in future releases.
Davenport added, “User feedback has been exceptional, particularly for our electrical concepts module.” He noted the frequency of “eureka moments” when users grasp basic electrical properties.
Customized Training Experiences
All VR experiences can be customized with partner logos, equipment, and procedures. This offers a seamless extension of existing training programs at a fraction of traditional costs.
Benefits of Virtual Reality in Training
The integration of virtual reality in technical training presents numerous advantages.
Enhanced Engagement
Learners are more engaged in interactive environments compared to traditional learning methods.
Safe Learning Environment
VR eliminates the risks associated with hands-on training.
Cost Efficiency
Replacing expensive equipment reduces overall training costs significantly.
Flexible Learning
VR allows technicians to learn at their own pace, enhancing retention and understanding.
Lobaki understands that technology continuously evolves. Therefore, they remain committed to updating their training programs. Their innovative approach ensures that technicians are well-prepared for modern challenges.
